This Week I Get My Revenge Against Johnny Airports at the Preston & Steve Pop-A-Shot Competition

I’ve been waiting 365 days for revenge. On Wednesday, I’m back in the Preston & Steve Pop-A-Shot competition at Camp Out For Hunger at 8 a.m. to end Johnny Airports’ reign of terror. Enough is enough. No man is going to show up in a button down and embarrass me TWICE. If Matt O’Donnell didn’t come out of nowhere last year with the most unprecedented 58 the competition has ever seen, I’m holding that belt and starting my own dynasty run this year:
A 32 in the final round O’Donnell?!? A THIRTY TWO!?!?! My blood was boiling on that stage watching Airports get a easy ride to gold. It looked like the Sixers vs. Lakers Finals in 2001. Can’t blame no one but myself though. I was gifted with great positioning and a not-so-great showing from the most athletic media member in the city, Pat Gallen, and I blew it. But I swear if Jason Martinez tickles the twine shooting like James Naismith taught his great-great-great grand daddy I’m going to lose my mind:

Rumors are swirling that Michael Barkann can’t make it this year and he’s being replaced by Marc Jackson. That’s 6’10 former NBA player Marc Jackson. A guy who shot 81% from the free throw line in his career. The deck is stacked against me. I have no choice, but to play dirty. I’m gonna have to spit on his Tesla right before he goes up there to distract him. I might find Johnny Airports’ number and send him a fake text from an anonymous source that the Sixers just traded for Giannis and he’s needed outside Terminal C immediately. All is fair in love and Pop-A-Shot.
I already have my strategy down though. Early on, it’s all about quantity over quality. Get as many shots up as you can while they’re worth two points. What killed me last year is that I went cold during the three point portion, which cost me an extra 10+ points.

Gotta hit those if I want any chance of beating this crowded field.
I’m still calling my shot right now. The three-peat isn’t happening tomorrow and I’m taking the belt home. I’ve been practicing (went to Buffalo Billiards like twice in the last year). I’ve got something to my advantage that no one else does and that’s wing-span and the unconcerned mindset to exploit it. I might dunk the ball I’ll be leaning so far. Last year was my first time at CO4H. I didn’t want to be a hardass. Now that I’ve got a year under my belt all bets are off.
