If the Eagles Win, the Positivity Rabbit Stays, if they Lose, it Suffers a Fate Worse than HitchBOT

If you missed it over the weekend, there is now a positivity rabbit in the Eagles’ locker room:

On one hand, this is the softest shit ever. We’re talking about the Super Bowl champions, who 10 months ago annihilated the Chiefs in New Orleans and ended their dynasty. They were a ruthless, cutthroat, merciless group of marauders who just clobbered everybody who stood in their way. Now they’re 8-4 and there’s an inflatable “Happy Easter” rabbit inside of the locker room to help get the vibes back on track.

This would be really stupid if we didn’t have a history of gimmicky things in Philadelphia sports that work more often than they don’t. The obvious one that comes to mind is the Lane Johnson underdog mask, which really was the snapshot of the 2018 playoff run. The entire city got behind the disrespect angle and parlayed it into “No one likes us,” which Jason Kelce borrowed from the Sons of Ben, who borrowed it from an English team called Millwall.

We’ve also had Brad Miller and his bamboo, we’ve had #RaiseTheCat after Sixers wins, and we’ve had Dancing on my Own and all kinds of assorted tomfoolery in the past.

It’s so funny how binary these things are. We all know that if they win in LA, all of the t-shirt people will have “Positivity Rabbit” prints ready to order on Tuesday morning. Fans will change their social media avatars to pictures of the rabbit. The local news stations will get in on it. I have no doubt in my mind that Mike Jerrick and Alex Holley will have Vince Defruscio dress up in a rabbit costume on the Good Day set.

And if they lose, this thing will disappear faster than Xavier Gipson. It will suffer a HitchBOT-like fate and we’ll never hear about the positivity rabbit ever again.
