Fox Sports Author Says Micah Parsons Trade Was a Bigger NFL Moment than Eagles’ Super Bowl Win

As we turn the page to 2026, we take a look at our first fugazi list of the year, or really the last fugazi list of 2025:

Micah Parsons at #2 is outrageous because in no world should a preseason trade top the Super Bowl. Sure, it dominated headlines for a few days, but we’re talking August NFL player movement. Like the Birds or hate the Birds, that was one of the all-time ass kickings in title game history. I guess neutrals didn’t think much of a boring blowout, so it doesn’t resonate as much from a national perspective.

This was #1:

1. Chiefs eliminated, Patrick Mahomes injured

This season marked the unofficial end of Kansas City’s dynasty … at least in this iteration.

Three-time Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes tore the ACL and LCL in his left knee late in the fourth quarter of the Chiefs’ Week 15 game against the Chargers. Minutes later, Kansas City was eliminated from playoff contention for the first time since 2014, three years before the star quarterback was drafted.

At 36 years old, star tight end Travis Kelce could retire this offseason. Coach Andy Reid said he’s not retiring, but the 67-year-old coach may not be on the sidelines for more than a couple more seasons. Mahomes is expected to make a full recovery, so perhaps sooner rather than later, a retooled Chiefs team will be back as a perennial Super Bowl contender.

Putting aside obvious Philly bias, this doesn’t make a lot of sense because #3 is the reason for #1. That’s when the Chiefs dynasty truly died, in February, when they were absolutely throttled by the Birds in New Orleans.

They haven’t looked the same since that loss. Even before Mahomes was injured in Week 15, Kansas City was 6-7 and fighting an uphill battle just to make the playoffs. They had just lost four of five games. It’s not like they recovered from the LIX ass kicking and started well. They had a few injuries here and there, but they didn’t look like themselves in 2025 outside of a short stretch in September and October when they beat the Giants, Ravens, Lions, Raiders, and Commies. They were largely a shell of the Chiefs teams we watched between 2019 and 2024.

It’s just funny to say that the #1 biggest story of 2025 was the end of the Chiefs dynasty, while the event that caused it, the NFL’s biggest game of each season, is ranked #3.

But as we say, “no one likes us, we care and will complain about it.
