Nick and Howie spoke on Thursday. Season-ending presser.

The notes:

  • Sirianni danced around a question about why he didn’t remove Kevin Patullo earlier in the season to right the ship. He loves Patullo and is thankful for his contribution and etc.
  • In searching for a new offensive coordinator, “you’re looking to continue to evolve as an offense.” They’re looking for “the best guy.” The head coach didn’t say anything interesting.
  • Sirianni said it’s “too early” to determine whether the offensive coordinator is going to have full control vs. running a version of his existing offense. He thinks it’s best for the team when he is the head coach and getting involved on offense, defense, and special teams. “There are a lot of different ways to do it…. we’ll see how that plays out, we’re not there yet as far as that goes.
  • Roseman was also asked about the OC job: “As much as you’d like continuity, we want to win. We have an urgency to win right now. If that comes with the ramifications that we lose good people because they’ve (earned head coach jobs), we’ll live with it.”
  • Howie stressed that Sirianni has been flexible with previous hires in allowing them “to put their own spin on things.” He thinks Sirianni is an elite connector who does a lot of things well. He went to bat for Sirianni in this presser.
  • We’ll see how it plays out,” said Sirianni when asked if Patullo will remain in the organization. Non-commital. That was in response to a question about whether or not Patullo was fired or demoted, since the team statement was vague and the beats reported that it’s possible Patullo goes back to a lesser role on the offensive staff.
  • Both guys dodged a question about Jalen Hurts and how much quarterback play contributed to the offensive regression. Just meandering nonsense. Roseman did reiterate, however, that Hurts has been a winner here and done a “tremendous job” in Philadelphia.
  • Roseman joked that they need a “deli counter” with numbers to solve the problem of the beats all yelling over each other to get in their questions.
  • Howie didn’t answer a question on whether or not Lane Johnson is coming back (he’s under contract).
  • Sirianni “wants to hire the best possible candidate for the Philadelphia Eagles” and has a lot of faith in the offensive staff, which has been together for a long time, not just here.
  • He repeated several times that everybody “had their fingerprints” on the 2025 offense, sharing the blame for the failure.
  • They both asserted that they are doing everything to win right now. The window remains open. Of course it does. “We have a win now mode and win now team with all of the great players we have,” said Sirianni.
  • Sirianni did point out that they put Hurts under center a lot more this year. Jalen Hurts “will do whatever it takes to win football games, sometimes that’s throwing it a bunch, running a bunch, of handing it off a bunch… all I’ve ever know from Jalen is the man will do anything he can do to win football games.”

The end.
