The Betting Public is Backing the Colorado Avalanche to Defeat the Philadelphia Flyers
DraftKings sent over some insights for Friday night’s NHL slate.
The Flyers aren’t getting much love at all against the wagon known as the Colorado Avalanche:
- moneyline: 89% of the bets and 89% of the handle on Avalanche (-290)
- puck line: 80% of the bets and 94% of the handle on Avalanche -1.5 (-115)
- total: 48% of the bets and 72% of the handle on over 6.5 goals (-110)
If you want to get in on the action, grab a DraftKings promo code and go to town. There’s not a lot of standalone value on that -290 Avalanche moneyline, but -115 on the puck line seems like a good price considering the Avalanche have lost a grand total of five regulation games this year while posting a +77 goal differential. The Flyers are -8 after the recent skid.
The only thing throwing a wrench into this one is that the Flyers should be on a two-game win streak. They grinded out a hell of a result in Vegas, killing off six power plays in a 2-1 win. Then they blew a late lead in Utah only because Garnet Hathaway decided not to shoot the puck into an empty net. Colorado, meantime, is wrapping up a seven-game homestand in which they’ve only gone 3-3 with a regulation loss, OT loss, and shootout loss. They’ve looked human since the calendar flipped to January.
Dan Vladar remains out for the Flyers, who will start Sam Ersson for a third straight game. He’s been better recently, and 6.5 is a steep over/under number, but this is a Colorado team that went to at least seven goals in four of their last six games.
For what it’s worth, the Flyers battled the Avs to a 3-2 loss in Philly back in December and that game was totally competitive.
Maybe it’s worth a sprinkle on the under. The value is there.
Or, we avoid this one like the plague and spend our weekend money with NJ online casinos and PA online casinos.
