Obligatory Eagles Chant in the Middle of Roman Reigns Choosing his Wrestlemania Opponent

The latest stop on the Road to WrestleMania took place inside the Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philly Monday night for Raw. We saw the Women’s World Title defended in a Philly Street Fight, Big Dom hanging out in the crowd again, and Nikki Bella continuing the Cooper DeJean storyline.
But the big story on Action News is that Roman Reigns and CM Punk are headlining WrestleMania 42 in Vegas in April, and it was set up with a classic face-to-face in-ring promo that planted the seeds we needed to become invested in this match happening in 2026.
Before Punk’s arrival, Reigns took to the mic and discussed his history in the City of Philadelphia. It’s been a tumultuous one, to say the least. Reigns talked about winning his first Royal Rumble in Philly 11 years ago – which remains one of the worst booking decisions we’ve seen in the modern era. He talked about how he won his first World Title later that same year in the same building. Note: I was in attendance for both of those shows. The reaction to Reigns winning the Rumble in January ‘15 then the World Title in December ‘15 couldn’t have been more opposite. It took a long time for Reigns to be accepted by the crowd – not just in Philly, but everywhere.
After he mentioned returning to Philly to make a decision on his WrestleMania opponent, a very audible E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES! echoed throughout the arena..
Reigns smirked, and responded, “All right, our teams are doing the same thing right now, but yeah.”
Reigns could have easily turned that moment into some heel heat for himself, as he is admittedly a 49ers fan. He decided not to fully take the bait. Maybe it’s because the Eagles are technically still defending Super Bowl Champions.
It wasn’t the only moment the crowd did the EAGLES chant Monday night, but it was the funniest.
