This made me laugh out loud:

Q: Do you think the situation with Nick last year was a distraction at all?

“I mean, it’s – it’s (neither) here nor there, you know, we did, we did what we did right? I felt like, that, in the Dodgers series, that we played good games, right? Like there were just things we didn’t execute. We didn’t walk away with wins at the end of the day so it’s hard to say here or there, right? We put ourselves in the position where we wanted to be, we just got knocked out. So, can’t really say.”

“Can’t really say,” but he he didn’t say no, and so fans and media are going to read between the lines and presume that Schwarber couldn’t stand Casty.

Funny enough, he does sort of answer the question, maybe inadvertently. The Phillies won the division and got into the playoffs, so certainly Castellanos wasn’t holding anything back in that regard. They posted their highest win total since 2011 and played good baseball down the stretch. They just got knocked out by the eventual World Series winner. Whatever problems Castellanos was reportedly causing in the clubhouse, the negative manifestations on the field of play were nonexistent.

It’s the delivery that’s killing me. Schwarbs looks like he saw a ghost, like he wasn’t expecting that question and didn’t know what to say. It’s sort of like a politician in a debate and they get asked something complicated and respond with a total non sequitur.

Q: President Bush, what do you think about tort reform?

A: “Well I think tort reform is important. There are a lot of things I’d like to reform. We need to reform our tax system so the wealthy are paying their fare share. And in my second term, everyone will get a free cell phone and a $500 stimulus check.
