What’s up with these UGA players and driving arrests? –

Twiggs County is near Macon. There is absolutely nothing there. It’s a county with less than 10,000 people and a portion of Interstate 16 connecting to Savannah. The T Mac story says Smith was driving 135 on that highway, over a speed limit of 70. Smith posted bond and was released after booking:

“A court date for the case is set for July 14. Smith would not need to appear if he pays the fines associated with the citations, the sheriff’s office said.”

It’s not a great look. The Eagles run a clean program and guys don’t often get in trouble. There was, of course, some consternation about the Jalen Carter draft pick, after he was involved in the racing incident that resulted in the death of a UGA teammate and staffer. He ended up with a fine, community service, and probation. Now here we are three years later with another Bulldog arrested for a driving incident, though thankfully tragedy was avoided this time around.

Nolan Smith is going into the fourth year of his rookie deal, which comes with a $3.8 million cap hit. The Birds exercised his fifth-year option just a few weeks ago, which increases his cap hit to about $14 million. Smith played 12 games last season and logged 31 tackles, three sacks, 11 QB hits, and one tackle for loss. He’s battled injuries during his Eagles tenure but was very good during the Super Bowl year.

What Smith needs right now is a chauffeur. Maybe Big Dom should just drive him around for the time being. Take the keys away before somebody gets hurt. You’re 25 years old and you’ve got a bright future ahead of you. Who does Nolan Smith think he is, Sammy Hagar? –
