English Media Complaining About the Ref Long Before Argentina Game Begins
England vs. Argentina at 3 p.m. today in the World Cup semifinal. Winner gets Spain inside of “New York/New Jersey” stadium and these whinging knobs in the British media are already getting the excuses ready:
Elfath is a longtime MLS ref. He used to be bang-average but has gotten a lot better over the years. Funny to think he used to do Philadelphia Union games in front of like 15,000 people, now he’s in charge of a World Cup semifinal.
You know what’s interesting about this England team? The players are total class, and likeable, while their fans and media stink. Look at what guys like Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham have done in the tournament. Elite ballers, both of them. Bellingham has scored big goal after big goal and this team has been pushed to the limits against Norway and Mexico, the former in the Miami heat and the latter inside the Azteca while playing down a man. They’ve really battled and showed a lot of guts and resilience along the way, which has been super-impressive. There’s not much to dislike about the team itself.
It’s a shame they’re represented by the most cynical shit stirrers out there. British media is always trying to create controversy, which heaps pressure on the players. They’re already dealing with the highest of expectations, then along come the rags to make mountains out of molehills.
Kane talked about it:
It would be nice for the England players to win, but the fans and media to somehow lose. Why the fans? What did they do? Well, they typically shit on American soccer, and MLS, and generally think they are the greatest fans of all time and that the Premier League is invincible and stuff like that. They’re a little snooty. We can’t live with them winning the World Cup on American soil.
