Jayden Daniels’ Lawyer Sends Cease and Desist to LSU and People Think it Was His Mom’s Idea

Mark Schlabach at ESPN wrote about a legal dispute involving Commie QB Jayden Daniels:

An attorney representing Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels has informed LSU that it can no longer use his name, image and likeness, according to an Aug. 5 letter sent to Tigers athletic director Verge Ausberry, a copy of which was obtained by ESPN on Wednesday.

At the center of the dispute, according to a statement from Daniels’ spokesperson to ESPN, is that the Tigers are allowing sophomore cornerback DJ Pickett to wear the No. 5 jersey that Daniels wore when he became LSU’s third Heisman Trophy winner in 2023.

While Daniels’ jersey hasn’t been retired by the Tigers, it’s the first time a player has worn No. 5 since he left the program for the NFL.

“Jayden made it clear that he did not want his number given to another player, and he believed his wishes would be respected,” the statement said. “His Heisman Trophy-winning season and everything he accomplished on and off the field cemented his place in LSU history. To see his number given to another player is incredibly disappointing and feels like a failure to honor the significance of what Jayden accomplished at LSU.”

Lot to love in this story. I laughed a few times reading the ESPN article. Getting this bent out of shape about a number is lame as hell. You’re in the NFL now, Jayden. You have a season to get ready for. You have an injury-riddled Commies offesnse that needs to be figured out.

You have to prep for getting absolutely demolished by the Eagles in Week 1.

You also have millions of dollars. That should keep you happy enough to not feel “profoundly disrespected” by some kid wearing your old number — a number the school didn’t even retire. You’re a rich guy. You can buy all kinds of cool stuff. Massage chair. Blackstone grill. Plus all the other perks. You can probably get reservations at good restaurants. You could probably see The Odyssey in IMAX any time you want. I still can’t get tickets to that. Just the regular IMAX, I’m saying. Not even talking the 70mm at KOP. That’s a pipedream. That will simply never happen for me. But you could easily do it, I bet. Just focus on that. Access to AMC’s. That’s pretty good.

No offense to moms, but this does seem like a very mom thing to do. Get all mad and worked up about a perceived disrespect to her beloved son. That’s why you can’t let your mom run your career. That’s a bad idea. My mom would probably do something similar if she had a say at my job. She’d have a lawyer call Kinker to demand Crossing Broad publish all my blogs as a collection in hardcover so I could sell 600 million copies and have them adapted into an HBO Max series and win the Pulitzer all in the same week. Moms’ hearts are in the right place, but they are insane people. Tough spot to be in, Jayden. Good luck with all that:
