This video just came across my desk:

“Hey guys, it’s Trevor Zegras. I think I’m gonna be housing a couple rookies and then I have a ten-year veteran staying in my attic. So we got Barks (Denver Barkey) back, we got Marty (Porter Martone) living in there, and then Christian Dvorak is taking the attic. So we got a full — “

Lot of good stuff here. This is good. It was reported that Zegras had a couple teammates living with him last season (Barkey and Martone) and it sounds like they’re back at it with a new addition (Dvorak, who is 30 years old and appears to be attic-bound). If Zegras and co. are running it back with more teammates, that must mean this arrangement is pretty good for everyone. Imagine Zegras wouldn’t keep inviting his coworkers to live in his house if he didn’t like having them, and gotta figure his teammates wouldn’t keep piling into his home if the other tenants weren’t saying good things. Which is nice. This is nice.

It is kind of tough to imagine this setup, though. Leaves me with many questions/general curious thoughts:

  • How big is this house?
  • How many rooms are we talking?
  • Does everyone get a normal-sized bed?
  • Feels like probably not.
  • Probably a good number of twin-sized beds in there.
  • Wonder if there are any room-sharers.
  • Picturing two oddly placed twin beds in a smallish room, like the way they’re positioned in rental shore houses.
  • A weird L-shape made with two child-sized beds.
  • One nightstand kind of between them for both beds to share.
  • Wonder where the house is.
  • Zegras mentioned there’s an attic; feel like finished attics are more of a suburbs situation.
  • I have a finished attic.
  • Wonder if these guys also live in Oaklyn.
  • Wonder if they have a driveway for all their cars.
  • Probably not.
  • The sheer number of cars going in and out of that place must be nuts.
  • There’s their own personal cars, plus girlfriends, friends, people stopping by, etc.
  • Whole curb is probably lined with cars.
  • Looking like a graduation party.
  • Balloons-tied-to-the-mailbox-ass looking street, with all these cars.
  • Laundry is probably a nightmare in there.
  • 4 guys and one washer/dryer.
  • Dryer is probably thumping loud as hell at all hours.
  • House almost certainly smells odd.
  • With four grown men living in one house, they’re probably cooking all kinds of different stuff at the same time.
  • Smells of different foods clashing. Not good.
  • Smell of hard-boiled eggs being peeled blending with the smell of meatballs going in the crockpot.
  • Crumbs all over the counters.
  • Always using the too-bright overhead lights instead of nice soft-light of a lamp.
  • Probably no area rugs.
  • When I was living with buddies like this in college/post college, we never had area rugs.
  • We wore shoes all around the house.
  • Like animals…
  • Probably what these Flyers are doing, too.
  • Was fun stuff, though.
  • Bet these guys are having fun.
  • Hope they keep adding players every year.
  • Get the coaches living there, too.
  • Whole Flyers organization living in a medium-sized house in Oaklyn, everyone in twin-sized beds, making hard-boiled eggs and meatballs and running the dryer at all hours.
  • This’ll be good.
  • Good for team-building/morale.
  • Brick by brick…
  • And car by car… parked on the street… Yes…
