EDP Was Arrested and Charged With Sex Crimes

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The YouTuber who goes by EDP445 faces charges in connection to allegedly trying to meet an underage girl in Bakersfield for sex, according to police.
Bryant Turhan Emmerson Moreland, EDP445’s real name, was charged Monday with attempted lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14, going to an arranged meeting with a minor, contacting a minor with sexual intent and sending pornography with the intent to seduce a minor, according to court records.
He was arrested Wednesday in Henderson with assistance from the City of Henderson Police Department and will be transported to Kern County, according to a release from the Kern County District Attorney’s Office.
According to the DA’s office, it was The Sick Mind of EDP445 documentary that led to his arrest, which would suggest that it’s not a great idea to do a film about how much you like underage children. The office says it initially reviewed the underage minor incident five years ago, but faced “significant challenges” in prosecuting, which was basically because of sloppy amateur predator catching and a lack of legitimate policework. The investigating was reopened with new evidence, which is EDP admitting to Chris Hansen (Dateline NBC/To Catch a Predator) that he tried to meet up with th girl and “I guess you could say, try to have sex, I don’t know.” That’s a quote straight from the documentary.
We touched on this story in a recent blog titled “EDP445 is Not From Philadelphia and Has Always Been a Fake Eagles Fan.” People disagreed with the premise, but whatever. This dude is not one of us and never has been. He elected Eagles fandom back in 1997, which makes no sense because that was the Bobby Hoying/Ty Detmer/Rodney Peete year, and admitted in the documentary that he liked “the logo on the helmet, and how pissed off the logo looked,” which is a fraudulent poser reason to become a fan of a team. So whether or not he watched all of the games and knew what he was talking about while screaming into a video camera is irrelevant. We don’t claim EDP because he’s from California and his Eagles fandom was always lame. He’s a perfect example of why we need more gatekeeping, and not less.

EDIT – I should point out that EDP is experiencing some sort of kidney failure or kidney disease. It seems like he doesn’t have much longer to live. He was actually arrested outside of a dialysis center and if I recall, he talks about his deteriorating health in the documentary.
