Nick Foles Criticizing the Eagles is Equal Parts Interesting, Refreshing, and Entertaining

Nick Foles sure has been on one, huh? I’m enjoying it. Been fun to watch him go off over the last couple weeks, shitting on pretty much every aspect of the Eagles organization. I don’t know what’s gotten into him, but I am a fan. It’s an entertaining thing to watch.
Last week, we wrote about him saying that the Birds’ culture has changed for the worse, and little did we know Nick was only just getting started. On Wednesday, the former Eagles quarterback hopped on Brandon Graham’s podcast to rip anyone and everyone in the Eagles’ building who gives a rat’s ass about what he says:
Nick Foles goes on a passionate rant about people inside the Eagles’ building getting upset over former players criticizing the team: “The fact that they’re getting emotional about what we say. Like, block us out. We’re talking to the fans. The fact that you’re getting frustrated about what Nick Foles and Brandon Graham are saying. We care so much about the Eagles. BG and I want to talk really good about the Eagles, but when we go and put on the tape, there are too many things that we have to share from our perspective and insight.”

“Yeah, I mean, BG and I have said things. The fact that we are ruffling feathers on people that are at the top bothers me a little bit. It bothers me. Um. The fact that they are getting emotional based on what we say — block it out. Like, block us out. Do not listen to what — we’re talking to the fans. Like, the fact that you’re getting frustrated about what Brandon Graham and Nick Foles are saying — we care so much about the Eagles. We’re not, like, not in Philadelphia, like, ‘Oh, we’re gonna talk about the Eagles.’ Like, BG and I wanna talk really good about the Eagles. Jason Avant wants to talk really good about the Eagles. But when we go put on the tape and we dissect the tape, there’s too many things on the tape that we have to share from our insights in hoping that improves. So that’s sorta where I’m at, BG I know that was long-winded, but I’m emotional about it. Like I think it’s like, the fact that they’re getting frustrated is a problem in there and they need to block us out. And they just need to focus on doing what they do because if they do that, they can turn this thing around. I always believe that.’
Very funny move by Nick here. It’s basically a checkmate. Essentially what he’s saying is, “I can say whatever unflattering thing I want about the Eagles, and if they get upset, that just proves my point and makes them look even worse.” That’s expert-level manipulation. Like picking a fight and then telling the person who responds that they’re being weird and emotional and need to calm down. Impressive stuff.
And he didn’t stop there. On Thursday, Nick appeared on the SZN Podcast and took issue with the Eagles’ offensive coaching and schemes:
FOLES: “To look at the numbers, and everyone was so tough on Kevin Patullo last year — Kevin Patullo’s offense was way better than this offense. Like, you know, what was it, like 19th in one category, 24th in another? The Eagles are like dead last, like in like 30th in like —”
EVAN MOORE: “He had Jalen Hurts. He had Devonta Smith, for the most part.”
FOLES: “Yeah, but still… I’m just saying, like… I’m watching this and I’m like, when I see guys not finishing plays — and I know like a week ago Nick Sirianni’s like, ‘I don’t see a hustle or a not playing hard sort of thing.’ Like, I can circle that play and be like, ‘Right here we’re not finishing the play. Like, that matters.’ I get your running backs are new, but like, why are they constantly going to the wrong side — Saquon Barkley, there was two or three in there where Saquon wasn’t doing the right thing. Like, that stuff — I know these guys care, but like you can tell the confidence is slipping, and when the confidence slips and you’re with coaches that have never proven to you their worth — which these coaches have never proven to these players their worth… These offensive coaches. The new offensive scheme has not proven to the players that it’s worthy cause it has not been brought to life, which, this becomes very difficult during the season.”
He’s right as far as the stats go, for sure. From our Sportradar data, the differences between 2025 and 2026 are pretty stark:
- Scoring Offense:
- 2026 (thru 8 games): 17.1 PPG (Rank: 30th)
- 2025: 22.3 PPG (Rank: 19th)
- Total Offense:
- 2026: 265.2 net YPG (Rank: 32nd / last) | 4.42 yards per play (Rank: 32nd)
- 2025: 311.2 net YPG (Rank: 24th) | 5.24 yards per play (Rank: 19th)
- Rushing Offense:
- 2026: 88.1 YPG (Rank: 27th) | 3.75 YPC | 39.2% run play rate
- 2025: 116.9 YPG (Rank: 18th) | 4.16 YPC | 47.3% run play rate
- Passing Offense:
- 2026: 177.1 net pass YPG (Rank: 27th) | 56.0% pass play rate
- 2025: 194.3 net pass YPG (Rank: 23rd) | 49.2% pass play rate
But it’s hard, there are way too many injuries and roster holes to fairly judge Sean Mannion and his offense. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying I think the offense might’ve been great if everything went the Eagles’ way this year — it wouldn’t have been. But the Patullo comment is a damning judgment that I, personally, am going to hold out on making. With all the injuries and the losses on the offensive line, comparing the 2026 offense to 2025’s feels too apples to oranges.
Not that I’m saying Nick Foles should stop yelling about it. Like I said, I’m enjoying this very much. He’s going heel. He’s doing a Stephen A. Smith thing. Can’t wait to see who he yells at next.
Kinkead: worth pointing out that Foles and Mannion were teammates in 2015
