Of Course Buffalo Wild Wings’ Spokesperson Is a No-Good, Brian Williams Wannabe

Comedian Steve Rannazzisi, star of The League, apparently had a habit over the years of explaining to interviewers that he was in the World Trade Center’s South Tower on September 11, 2001 and escaped just minutes before the second hijacked plane hit the building.

As it turns out, he has been lying about it this whole time– something he recently owned up to.

The New York Times has the odd story, but here’s the nugget that really jumps out– to me, anyway:

It was unclear how Mr. Rannazzisi’s admission might affect his standing with networks or sponsors, including Buffalo Wild Wings, which had made him the face of an ad campaign associated with the start of this N.F.L. season and which had featured him in commercials last spring for March Madness.

“We are disappointed to learn of Steve’s misrepresentations regarding the events of September 11, 2001,” Buffalo Wild Wings said in a statement Tuesday night. “We are currently re-evaluating our relationship with Steve pending a review of all the facts.”

HAHA!

Of course BWW’s spokesguy is not who he purports to be, just like the offerings on the chain’s lackluster menu. The “hand-spun” wings are really just dried out, day-old, gross-ass “chicken” tossed in squeeze-tube sauces. The boneless breading is more like a paste that stands an only 42% chance of making it down your esophagus unscathed. The “craft beer” selections stop at, like, Stella. The service is brutal. The atmosphere is daycare. And there is no overtime button. But hey, the first thing they did right was tap Rannazizziaisisisissisi for their commercials. Well done, BWW. You suck.
