Rapoport: Eagles “Would Make a Lot of Sense” for Devonta Freeman, if He’s Willing to Accept Less Money

Kevin Kinkead - May 26, 2020

Carlos Hyde won’t be a Philadelphia Eagle this season, as the veteran running back signed a one-year deal with Seattle worth up to $4 million. That’s the same amount Seattle reportedly offered to Devonta Freeman, who apparently turned it down.

It means Freeman is still out there if the Eagles want to extend an offer, and this weekend Ian Rapoport mentioned the Birds when talking about the running back’s future:

Troy Vincent Says NFL “Failed Miserably” With Pass Interference Replay

Kevin Kinkead - May 26, 2020

The pass interference replay rule is one and done in the NFL and won’t be returning in 2020.

Installed after the 2019 NFC Championship Game debacle, the replay system was a mess from the beginning, with calls being rarely overturned by NFL officiating crews. As such, the replay was scrapped and we’ll continue this season with pass interference no longer being subject to video review.

Former Eagle Troy Vincent, who is now NFL Vice President of Operations recently spoke with NBC’s Peter King and admitted that the NFL failed in implementation of the replay:

Eagles’ Blood Drive Collects Enough Pints to Help 270 Patients

Kevin Kinkead - May 22, 2020

The Birds are doing their part to help out during the COVID-19 crisis, and Thursday they held another blood drive with the Red Cross.

Some details via press release:

In an effort to help maintain a sufficient blood supply and to avoid a potential shortage during these uncertain times, the Philadelphia Eagles and the American Red Cross, with the support of Budweiser, hosted its second community blood drive at Lincoln Financial Field on Thursday, May 21. The blood drive collected 90 pints of blood, which has the potential to help up to 270 patients.

The first Eagles Community Blood Drive, held on April 16, collected 74 pints of blood, which has the potential to help up to 222 patients.

Add those two drives together and it’s 164 pints of blood with the potential to help more than 450 patients.

Nice job by everybody involved.

Adrian Peterson Believes Redskins “Have the Tools to Run the Table”

Kevin Kinkead - May 22, 2020

Adrian Peterson has enjoyed a nice career resurgence since signing with Washington in 2018.

The Redskins totally stink, but he put up 1,042 yards his first season and followed up with 898 last year, which is fantastic output from a 35 year old player with more than 2,500 career carries at the time of his signing.

Washington should start to get their act together under Ron Rivera, and Peterson is feeling confident about the team outlook, saying this Thursday (via Steve Gardner at USA Today) –

Another Report Links Eagles to Devonta Freeman, Shady McCoy, and Carlos Hyde

Kevin Kinkead - May 22, 2020

Here’s another report about the Eagles’ pursuit of a veteran running back.

Tim McManus at ESPN:

The Philadelphia Eagles are looking to add a veteran running back in the near future and have narrowed their focus to three players, according to sources: Devonta FreemanCarlos Hyde and LeSean McCoy.

The Eagles are bullish on second-year back Miles Sanders, believing he has the makings of a Pro Bowl-caliber player, and envision a role for Boston Scott that is at least similar to last season’s, but want to add depth and talent to a group that also features Super Bowl LII standout Corey Clement

The Eagles have already reached out and expressed interest in Freeman, according to a league source. He has fans in the Eagles’ building, including running backs coach Duce Staley, whose relationship with Freeman dates to Freeman’s playing days at Florida State.

Mike Garafolo, Adam Caplan and others have reported similar, naming Shady, Freeman, and Hyde as possible additions for the Birds.
