Kevin Patra has the byline on an NFL.com story titled “Bryce Huff ‘knew pretty early on’ he wasn’t a fit in Philadelphia” –

The pass rusher, who was traded from Philly to San Francisco this offseason, told Brad Graham on “The SFNiners” podcast last week he didn’t feel like a good fit in Vic Fangio’s defense from training camp.

“If I’m being 100% honest with you, I wanted a trade like fairly early on,” he said. “And just ’cause of how things went in Philly, I knew pretty early on it wasn’t a fit. …

“There’s a plethora of things that went down. I don’t wanna get into specifics. Being in the league for five years, I kinda knew what it felt like to be in a good situation. … I kind of knew where it was headed fairly early on into the season, probably even training camp if I’m being honest.”

No matter. The Eagles won the Super Bowl without Huff, who was inactive in that game and missed some time earlier in the season with the wrist injury. Brandon Graham was great until he got hurt, Nolan Smith had a wonderful sophomore season, and Josh Sweat tore it up on the biggest stage, so the EDGE group turned out to be just fine after a relatively slow start in the Green Bay and Atlanta games.

Did Howie Roseman get it wrong with Huff? Seems so. But he nailed Saquon Barkley, Mekhi Becton, Zack Baun, CJGJ (second time), Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean, and probably Jalyx Hunt, based on what we saw in 2024. So not everybody bats .1000, not even Howie, and for that reason it is hard to muster any kind of negativity towards the Huff situation considering that Roseman nailed everything else perfectly.
