“Chronic” Types of Issues and More Wentz Nuggets

Carson Wentz’s Sunday status is up in the air after it was revealed today he’s dealing with back soreness and tightness. Doug Pederson said his starting quarterback would not practice today while the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport does not expect Wentz to play this weekend and even suggested he may be done for the season.
A few more pieces of information are floating around out there, this one first from Rapoport and colleague Tom Pelissero, who used the word “chronic” to describe Wentz’s issue:
From Up to the Minute Live: #Eagles QB Carson Wentz is not expected to play this Sunday, and his status going forward is up in the air. A discussion with @TomPelissero… pic.twitter.com/TMeyic40q0

“It’s considered a chronic type of a back issue that Carson Wentz has to do some maintenance on.”
Okay then.
More after the jump, this via Adam Schefter:

“Nick Foles has been told to be ready to play.”
I think that goes without saying, yeah?
On the other end of the spectrum, there’s a story from the Associated Press via local guy Rob Maaddi, who cites two sources in reporting that Wentz has not been ruled out for the Rams game:
Writes Maaddi:
Carson Wentz is sidelined with a back injury, but two people familiar with the situation tell The Associated Press the quarterback hasn’t been ruled out for Philadelphia’s game at the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.
Both people spoke on condition of anonymity Wednesday because the team hasn’t made any definitive determination.
A few more tidbits:
- Jeff McLane says Wentz was not on the field at all while Nick Foles and Nate Sudfeld practiced today.
- October was the first time Wentz appeared on the injury report with “rest” and “back” designations. That was a multi-week time frame.
- For reference, here’s Carson’s injury history: 2015 – Broke wrist in college, 2016 – preseason cracked ribs, 2017 – Torn ACL/LCL, 2018 – Back soreness and tightness
That’s it for now.
Same time tomorrow, knuckleheads.
