Dontayvion Wicks Looks Like a Player

The Eagles are 1-0 after a 24-22 win over the Commanders on Sunday, and a pleasant early storyline is Dontayvion Wicks. This guy is good. This is good news. Kinkead wrote on Saturday that bettors were throwing a good amount of money on Wicks to hit his over of 27.5 total yards on Sunday, and the new Eagles WR more than doubled that on his first catch — a 64-yard long ball in the first quarter, which is his career-high:

Then came his 9-yard touchdown catch in which he ran a true beauty of a route:

Wicks ended the game Sunday with 2 receptions on 4 targets for 73 yards and 1 touchdown. That works. I’ll take that. And for those who are newly interested in him after his Eagles debut, here’s some more info on the guy:

After being selected in the fifth round of the 2023 Draft by the Packers, Wicks was primarily a WR3/WR4 in a heavily rotated receiving corps featuring Jayden Reed, Romeo Doubs, and Christian Watson. He ranked third on the team in receiving yards as a rookie in 2023 (581 yards, 4 TD) before sliding to fourth among Packers wideouts in 2024 (415 yards, 5 TD) and 2025 (332 yards, 2 TD), while starting 18 games total.

When it was all said and done, Wicks ended his Green Bay tenure with 110 receptions, 1,401 receiving yards, and 12 touchdowns across 47 games. Most expected him to slot in as a WR3 in Philly behind Devonta Smith at WR1 and Makai Lemon at WR2, but with Lemon dealing with nagging hamstring issues and Wicks’ big first game as an Eagle, the depth chart could change.

Again, this is good stuff. We will keep an eye on this. Maybe Wicks is awesome. Maybe this is his breakout year. It could happen.
