Former Eagles cornerback James Bradberry is a new assistant coach for the Camden Catholic Irish:

This is pretty cool. I’m a big fan of this. Bradberry played eight NFL seasons (seven active) before he was cut by the Birds after the 2025 campaign. He didn’t play for another team after that, but he ended his career with a Super Bowl ring, even though he spent that season on the IR with an Achilles tear. That doesn’t matter. The ring still counts, in my opinion. Bradberry gets to own the ring and wear it to Camden Catholic games and flash it at teams they beat in a taunting, unsportsmanlike fashion if he chooses. If I’m him it’d be hard not to do this.

Bradberry is widely known for The Hold in Super Bowl LVII, which I just rewatched for this blog and got mad about all over again. 1:54 left in the fourth quarter, game tied 35-35, Chiefs 3rd and 8 from the Eagles’ 15-yard line:

Such a bad call. Barely anything there in the biggest moment of the game. I get why Bradberry admitted to holding after the game, and I respect him trying to take accountability, but I’ll never think that was the right call. The NFL was doing anything and everything to get Patrick Mahomes wins back then. Anyway. I digress.

Bradberry was a good Eagle, got a Pro Bowl nod in 2020 and a Second-team All-Pro selection in 2022, and is staying local to coach up the kids at Camden Catholic. That’s a nice thing. Feels like the premise of a streaming-only sports movie. A Bradberry version of the Sean Payton movie starring Kevin James:

Good luck in the new gig, Bradberry. Fingers crossed things go well enough that your story gets the Kevin James treatment.
