Flyers-Kings Preview
If you are reading this betting preview, you are likely all too familiar with the Flyers’ plight. They’re mired in a 13-game winless streak and are playing woefully shorthanded with eight starters (seven forwards) out of the lineup with injuries.
They struggle to score goals, and although they have played better hockey of late, remaining competitive and actually having a chance to win a game in seven of their last nine losses, but, they don’t have the confidence to get that difference-making goal, and all too often collapse in the third period and give away the game.
Carter Hart has been one of the few bright spots for the Flyers, playing excellent in goal and keeping the Flyers in most games. He’ll get the start against the Kings.
As for Los Angeles, they are on a season-long, six-game road trip. They have started it strong, going 2-0-1 against the New York area trio of the Devils, Rangers and Islanders. They’ve been playing superb team defense, spread the offense around (with eight different players scoring their nine goals on the trip), and superb goaltending from two-time Stanley Cup winner Jonathan Quick, who will likely be back in net this afternoon after getting the game off Thursday against the Islanders.
Both teams struggle on special teams, but L.A. has a distinct advantage at 5-on-5 where they tend to control puck possession. They do rank ninth in the NHL in goals allowed (2.68) while the Flyers rank 28th in the league in goals scored, with only 2.46 goals per game.

Bets We Like with a Flyers win
Philadelphia -0.5 in the first period (+220, BetMGM)

Let’s make this loud and clear, we aren’t picking the Flyers to win. Yeah, we’re saying they have played better lately. Yeah, it’s one of those situations where they’ll have to win eventually, and maybe catching a West Coast team playing in the east so early in the day (It’s going to feel like 10am to the Kings) is to their benefit. In fact, the Kings have lost the first period in seven of their last eight day games following a road win.
That may seem like a weird stat, but considering the time change and the start time and you can see Los Angeles coming into this game a little bit sluggish and the Flyers taking advantage.

Bets We Like with a Kings win
Adrian Kempe OVER 0.5 goals (+205, FanDuel Sportsbook)

CLAIM OFFERKempe is one of the top scorers for the Kings and he’s really producing of late, which is one of the reasons why the Kings have clawed back into the race for the Pacific Division title. Kempe has five goals and six assists for 11 points in just eight January games. The Flyers struggle to keep top scorers for teams off the scoresheet, so this is a good combination at very good odds to get yourself some cash on a side prop.

GET BONUSThe countdown is on for when the Flyers will trade their captain. Claude Giroux will be the most coveted piece on the trade market as the deadline approaches March 21. There are 19 games between now and then. Of those, 14 will be played at Wells Fargo Center. Home Game No. 13 on that list will be Thursday, March 17. It will mark Giroux’s 1,000 NHL game, all played with the Flyers. That is an important number for Giroux. There’s a good chance he makes it there before he and the Flyers part ways, and until then, his farewell tour should consist of lots of pretty plays and accumulating stats, as he will be looking to help the Flyers get as much in return as possible when the trade actually comes to fruition. So, look for Giroux to continue to post points, and you to continue to cash in on him.

Flyers vs. Kings Prediction
Once again, we know the Flyers will end this losing skid at some point, but until they do, we can’t, in good conscience, predict a win.
