I Would Have Loved to Eavesdrop on this Group of Dom DiSandro, David Adelman, Howard Eskin, and Michael Schulson

Celebrity chef and restaurateur Michael Schulson posted this on Instagram (thanks to Jamie on Twitter for spotting this):

What a group that is. From left to right, it’s Eagles security boss Dom DiSandro, Sixers co-owner David Adelman, Howard “The Burger King” Eskin (wearing his press pass), and Schulson.

Howard, as you know, hates everything about the Sixers, especially plans for the downtown arena that Adelman is trying to build. They’ve butted heads publicly about this:

I was thinking about the 76 Place proposal when Pagan was doing the story about the traffic clusterfuck of Tuesday night, with people stuck in their cars for hours trying to get to the sports complex during a tripleheader. That’s something the Sixers should use to sell people on the idea of going to a Center City arena using public transportation instead, i.e. “hey Sixers fans, you won’t have to navigate something like this.” You take all of the traffic images and plaster them across social media.

Not taking sides here, because we’re Switzerland when it comes to the arena project, but there’s something apropos about Comcast talking about the current merit and future potential of the sports complex, only for the Flyers’ home opener to be moved up an hour because 125,000 people descended on the same spot at the same time. And no, it’s not like this is a common occurrence, with a huge international soccer game scheduled at the Linc for mid-October, but it does provide ammunition for the portion of Philly sports fans who think the sports complex is a bloated concrete jungle and nothing more.

I’m sure this was discussed between Adelman and Eskin while Dom kept watch. Do you think he’s in security mode even when not working? Does he constantly have his head on a swivel, looking for troublemakers? I also wonder what Schulson thinks. He’s probably like “you guys figure out your sports thing, I gotta work on this tasting menu for Sampan.” His restaurants are all bangers. Double Knot, Harp and Crown, Alpen Rose, etc. Better food than we have out here in the suburbs.
