Former Phillie Jayson Werth and DK are doing a podcast called Werth Talking About:

Looks like this show is a production of AllCity, which owns PHLY. The phrasing in the podcast description is that it’s “powered by AllCity” –

Jayson Werth spent 15 years in MLB — won a World Series, played alongside Utley, Rollins, and Howard, and watched Bryce Harper grow up before his very eyes. Now he’s got a podcast, a Kobe jersey, and absolutely nothing left to prove.

Episode 1 of Werth Talking About is here — and we’re not pulling punches. Jayson and co-host Devan Kaney break down why they made this show (hint: most baseball coverage is either fake or boring and they’re tired of both), go deep on the 2008 World Series run, celebrate Shane Victorino hitting balls into orbit, and make the case that the Phillies have never — not once — replaced the Jayson Werth type.

Oh, and Jayson wore a signed Kobe jersey to Game 3 of the NBA Finals at MSG and we talked about it for a while. Because that’s the kind of show this is. Horse racing too. LOT of horse racing.

The athlete podcasts always seem to do well. You look at the YouTube numbers on a show like Exciting Mics and it’s regularly hitting 150 to 200 thousand views. And they have a clout that carries over from their playing days, which leads to good guests on the shows, for instance, Nick Foles getting Stoutland on his podcast.

I’m gonna listen to this on the way to Philly this afternoon and report back. The one thing about the YouTube thing video is that Werth has his hair up and is wearing a hat. He should let the hair go on the podcast. When the hair is down, he looks like the singer from Taking Back Sunday. He’s got really nice flowing locks:
