Reds Radio Broadcaster Delivers Classic Lines Before and After Schwarbomb
By Nick Piccone

The Phillies won the series opener in Cincinnati with the big play coming from the bat of Kyle Schwarber.
Schwarber went into Tuesday’s contest not having a home run in his previous seven games. He snapped that streak in his second at-bat, a two-run bomb in the top of the third inning to give the Phillies a 3-0 lead.
But it was Reds radio broadcaster and former Phillie, Jeff Brantley, who stole the show for me:
This is incredible

"And you can rest assured that it doesn't matter if it's 3-0 or 0-0, Schwarber is swinging if it's something he likes. And it is a three-ball, no-strike count. Pitch from Abbott. Boom. It is 3-0."

“And you can rest assured that it doesn’t matter if it’s 3-0 or 0-0, Schwarber is swinging if it’s something he likes. And it is a three-ball, no-strike count. Pitch from Abbott. Boom. It is three to nothing. A home run into the bleachers in right field, and I mean it was a rocket. No sooner did I get that out of my mouth he was swinging 3-0, and he did. There are certain hitters that 3-0, you just don’t give ’em anything to hit. And that pitch was right at the catcher’s mask. It was right in the heart of the plate. And a guy like Kyle Schwarber… uh-uh.”
Just a masterful set-up by Brantley. Phillies hitters through the years have a knack for delivering key hits after an opposing announcer sets it up on a tee. Whether it’s talking about a player’s current struggles, asking their team to not exhale in a critical moment, or just wondering why the current hitter isn’t being pinch-hit for before they deliver a game-killing hit. And Tuesday night’s dinger by Schwarber was the eventual game-winner.
Maybe this will be part of a new streak for Schwarber. Seven games in a row with a home run? Let’s go.
