As Jonathan Papelbon is selling his $6.9 million Rittenhouse Condo, Roy Halladay is putting his (somehow) more humble $1.9 million Newtown Square mansion on the market. Whereas Paps has a Fenway room and a balcony with a view, Doc’s new-ish construction has more subtle, but still extravagant charms:

Decorative moldings, arched openings & beautiful American cherry flooring reflect the architectural heritage of the area, while grandly proportioned rooms and generous ceiling heights add sophistication. The first floor features a Reception Hall that opens onto a spacious Living Room with fireplace & piano alcove. The Dining Room has a charming bay window, while the Library offers walnut cabinetry & a fireplace …

The expansive Master Retreat comprises a Bedroom with vaulted ceiling and luxurious His & Her Baths. Four additional Bedrooms, 3 more Baths, Sitting Area & Laundry Room complete this floor. The day lit Lower Level includes a Recreation Room with custom entertainment cabinetry, Play/Art Room, Exercise Room, Bonus Room with closet and & Bathroom with sauna. Within the landscaped grounds are a spectacular Pool/Guest House with fireplace & full Bathroom, outdoor Kitchen and swimming pool with spa.

I will never consider myself to be a success until I have a piano alcove. Thanks for the lofty dreams, Doc.
