Will Bettors Fade the Phillies on Getaway Day Amid San Francisco Slump?

Getaway day is welcomed by baseball players and dreaded by baseball bettors.
The Philadelphia Phillies have a trip back home and a welcome night’s sleep in their own beds ahead of them after Wednesday’s game against the San Francisco Giants.
My guess is everyone wants the Phillies to be back home at Citizens Bank Park. This has been a road trip from hell that’s featured the team’s first three-game losing streak of the season.
The Phillies come into Wednesday with a 3-0 record in games at the end of multi-series road trips. I think that has more to do with the team’s incredible start than playing on the road.
In this particular scenario, the Phillies are at a disadvantage.
The bats have gone cold, with eight runs spread across the last four losses. The eight-run performance on Saturday is a bit skewed as well since the Phils had a six-run ninth inning.
Part of the offensive slow down has been caused by the Giants pitching staff. San Francisco did a great job of getting out of trouble across 10 innings on Tuesday.
The back end of the Giants bullpen will likely be in action again on Wednesday since Kyle Harrison has gone exactly five innings in four of his last five starts. Walks have been his problem. He has multiple bases on balls in all of his five May starts.
Harrison’s walk prop over of 1.5 is rightfully juiced up to -160. If you like that over, the under 16.5 on Harrison’s out prop is worth a look as well.
The problem for the Phillies is that even if they take advantage of Harrison’s shortcomings, Cristopher Sanchez has been far worse away from CBP.
Sanchez owns a 4.63 ERA on the road, which is 2.60 higher than his home ERA. He’s allowed five more earned runs and struck out 25 fewer batters outside of Philadelphia.
The Giants rank 11th in team batting average against left-handed pitching and are tied for 16th in strikeouts versus southpaws. The Phillies have struck out the most against lefties by a wide margin, with 178 Ks total. Pittsburgh is second with 161.
Add into the mix that J.T. Realmuto, the Phillies’ hottest hitter, could be in line for a day off with a day game after a night game and there isn’t much of a threat from the Phillies lineup in its current form. They have a nice six-game home stand coming up against St. Louis and Milwaukee where they can easily get back on track.
Oracle Park has been a house of horrors for the Phils and that will probably continue given the circumstances of the matchup. Dare I suggest the Giants money line at +114? Or maybe it’s a hump day for New Jersey online casino and Pennsylvania online casino. Don’t forget online casino bonuses.
