Unfortunate: Lionel Messi is Not Coming to Philly

This is disappointing:
Argentinian Star Lionel Messi will join Inter Miami in 2023 when his PSG contract runs out, per @Alex_candal
His reported contract includes a 35% stake in the club and will be signed this August. pic.twitter.com/s2qV0kauE4

Lionel Messi is making a mistake. Philly is the right fit for him. It’s a blue collar, hard-working town. Miami has nothing on Chester.
It looks like the Union are going to have to shift their focus and look to bring in Cristiano Ronaldo instead. They need somebody to come in and score some goals. Need an experienced veteran up top. I’ve got my Ronaldo Bimbo jersey ready to go. We just need Philadelphia Union co-owner Kevin Durant to start pulling some weight and making some phone calls. Let’s get the recruiting process going here, KD. This isn’t some walk in the park. It’s not some hobby investment. If Messi and Ronaldo are out of the picture, KD needs to set up a meeting with van Dijk or Mbappe. Have their people contact your people.
Lionel Messi is not a Philly guy. 610-632-0975, your phone calls after the break. But first let me tell you about my friends at Bradford White Water Heaters.
Kevin has been writing about Philadelphia sports since 2009. He spent seven years in the CBS 3 sports department and started with the Union during the team's 2010 inaugural season. He went to the academic powerhouses of Boyertown High School and West Virginia University. email - k.kinkead@sportradar.com
