How could we forget? When his holiness, Pope Francis, visited Philadelphia last year, we wrote that it could bring an Eagles Super Bowl victory, thanks to the fact that for the last 10 papal visits, a team from the visited city won a sports championship in the following year:

We went with the Eagles because, well, that’s what anyone does around here. But the evidence was much stronger in the favor of a Main Line school – A CATHOLIC SCHOOL – since the Pope stayed in Ardmore. HOW COULD WE HAVE BEEN SO BLIND? And since the much closer St. Joe’s wasn’t available for this sort of greatness, Villanova was happy to step in, just like they did to accommodate the masses in September:

That’s now 11 championships in 11 visits. Villanova was so chosen. The Pope’s streak continues.
