Get on the Carter Hart wagon.
After a good outing Tuesday night against the Red Wings, the Flyers gave the young goalie a much tougher test against the Predators. He stopped 31 of 32 shots and the Flyers’ penalty kill unit stopped six Nashville power plays as Philly took home the 2-1 win.
Jake Voracek and Claude Giroux scored goals for the Flyers on the night they honored Scott Hartnell, who played for both teams during his career. He had some fun with Gritty during the day, by the way.
Has this team started to turn a corner? Perhaps, but I’d say it’s still a little early. Sure, Nashville is a great team in the Western Conference, but with a small sample size of two games, the jury remains out. Still, the early results look pretty damn good.
The Flyers host Columbus tomorrow at 1 PM.

The Phillies welcomed Manny Machado (and his wife!) to Philadelphia yesterday as he made the final visit of his free agency tour. He got the Jim Thome treatment and was welcomed by a construction worker. His visit lasted around four hours and he later had dinner with Phillies representatives. He’s flying back to Miami now, so we wait. It sounded like it went well?
Let’s hope he signs here. Everybody wants him, right? Well, everybody but Angelo Cataldi.
Another day, another practice for the Eagles who continue to get ready for the Texans on Sunday. Here’s the injury report.

Meanwhile, the biggest development of the day came inside the locker room where Chris Long built a shrine for Nick Foles in his locker.
After their easy win over the Knicks which saw JJ Redick score his 10,000th point, the Sixers didn’t do much yesterday. Jimmy Butler went to Madison Square Garden to watch Tre Jones and Duke beat Texas Tech. And T.J. McConnell wrote a fantastic piece on The Players’ Tribune.
In other sports news, Zion would love to be picked by the Knicks in the upcoming NBA Draft.
Chris Paul is out indefinitely after straining his hamstring last night.
Daniel Murphy signed a two-year deal with the Rockies.
In the news, Mayor Jim Kenney signed two bills to help city workers, including one raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour.
The federal government could be shut down today.
