The Eagles announced a plan to power Lincoln Financial Field with solar, wind, and dual-fuel electricity. What does that all mean?
Wind turbines on the roof and solar panels on the outer walls.
The most noticeable physical difference will be 100 20-foot, spiral-shaped wind turbines on the top of the stadium. The Orlando, Fla.-based Solar Blue energy company will also add 2,500 solar panels to the stadium’s facade. Over the next year, the company will invest approximately $25 million in the project.
We can joke all we like, but this is actually a pretty big deal, and not just a "we recycle a lot, therefore we love the environment" initiative. This is walking the walk. Well played, Eagles.
Check out the video of what the Linc will look like. Meet George Jetson…
Perhaps the Flyers will follow suit, except they would then go on the "energy provided by us Power Play!" Huzzah!
I can't take credit for that last one, credit reader Dan Spencer with the assist.

i have a feeling a lot of people will say “this looks dumb” or “who cares” but it really is a great idea.
the music is fantastic!
Wow… I checked out the video only because of Muscles’ comment. That really was some world-class symphony right there.
With such a modern upgrade to an already state-of-the-art stadium, couldn’t they have found a piece of music that was NOT from a 1992 corporate training video?
And I hope that Eagle flying above the stadium stays away from those sharp wind turbines.
It’s like 80′s sitcom, meets Mega Man, meets training video. Football!
Listen to Radiohead’s Motion Picture Soundtrack while watching that video. It’s majestic. I promise you.
Movement of soil particles from one place to another by wind and water is a natural phenomenon.
I love it when individuals come together and
share opinions. Great website, continue the good work!
