Flyers Trade Vinny Lecavalier and Luke Schenn to the Kings

Flyers West just got more Flyers-y: In a move designed to clear salary, the Flyers have traded Vinny Lecavalier and Luke Schenn to the LA Kings. Lecavalier also said he’ll retire as a King at the end of the year.
The Flyers have been trying to dump off Lecavalier’s contract for a while now, and the trade will bring Jordan Weal (the leading scorer in last year’s Calder Cup playoffs) and a third round pick in return.
The Flyers were so willing to get rid of at least some of that money on those contracts that they’re paying 50% of it in the deal. Hextall was finally able to dump off Lecavalier while he was still able to get something for him, while clearing cap space, which is what matters.
When he's not writing about sports here or ranting about them on Twitter, Jim is probably watching X-Files on Netflix or drinking a beer somewhere. Jim has nothing against hockey, it's just not his style. He once met Duce Staley at a Sixers game.
