The Big Piece

Ryan Howard hit his first home run since his return in the Phillies' 3-2 win last night.

Cole Hamels Millions Meter

Jayson Stark told Mike and Mike this morning that the Phillies are “not ready to sell” and “want to give their real team a chance” before the trade deadline.

Rauuuuuul

Raul Ibanez became the second Yankees player to hit a grand slam after turning 40.

Dom Brown

The enigma that is Domonic Brown.

From yesterday:

The Phillies are prepared to offer Cole Hamels not enough money.

Shane Victorino may be the first to be traded, if the Phillies choose to sell.

The Dodgers want Jimmy Rollins, too.

All the J-Roll (TM) haters need to read David Murphy’s article today on Philly.com. I’m also one of the guys that makes fun of all his pop-ups and wishes he would not always try to be a HR hitter, but he’s a lot better than most options out there.

See that backhand in the hole he ole’d and the missed double play where he couldn’t find the bag? that’s your 11 million dollar shortstop. I’d take Dee Gordon straight up for that p.o.s.

I can’t break em for anyone today but Shane (the dumbest MLB player besides Hunter Pence) – never saw a guy steal half a base and run back – what an effing stunod
    – there was no reason at all for him to try and steal 3rd with 2 outs and Ryan at the bat – 2 outs moving on the pitch – Shane scores from 2nd on any hit – getting to 3rd meant nothing – how long has this dolt been in the majors?
and Hunter – if you can’t reach it – don’t swing – if it’s over your head – don’t swing

Dom Brown is not an enigma. He has been managed extremely poorly and has had bad luck. Just call him up already. There’s not much more he can prove in AAA.
