Gawker Media is looking for a Growth Hacker — which I’m pretty sure is a thing they made up — and they’re looking for a certain type of person. Firstly, they need someone who will be able to “[maximize] traffic potential across our entire media landscape … oversee our social media and social strategy across our eight owned and operated sites, including company wide content, traffic partnerships, and audience development … [and handle] curation of our Pinterest page, media appearances, booking our writers to promote their brands, and email / newsletter blasts.” It’s one of those “new media” type jobs that wouldn’t have been a thing even two years ago, but now exists solely to bring more eyes to your brand. A key trait in an applicant in any job is attention to detail, so maybe they were just testing that out with their requirements:

First off, those two things go hand in hand because you’re not going to find a Phillies fan right now with a “generally cheery disposition.” Secondly: If you meant “hate [the way] the Phillies [use social media],” you are right on target. If you meant “hate the Phillies,” you guys are being huge dicks. Phillies fans are social media experts. They solve crimes, freak out when Roy Halladay tweets anything, and generally voice their displeasure on a near-constant basis. They’re plugged in, and that’s the kind of person you want.
