THE KONECNY CONNECTION!

OK so I’m just going to be honest here– I watched not one minute of preseason hockey. I saw the Konecny highlights, peeped the webternet chatter, and was generally aware that he could be a stud, but it wasn’t until last night, until this HOCKEY PLAY where he floated the puck to the net…

… and this backhanded pass…

… that I became a believer. I’m in. Everything I have. All on the table. The dude is crazy fast with stupid puck skills and ice vision and yet after the game he explains that sick pass to Coots as “I threw it to an area and he happened to be right there.” Uh, sure. Just happened to land right on Coots’ stick. And speaking of, how about Dan looking an F-ing genius calling Coot’s offensive outburst?

And from the Flyers post-game notes:

Per the Elias Sports Bureau, with his two assists, Travis Konecny became the first Flyer to post a multi-point NHL debut since David Laliberte recorded a goal and an assist in his debut on October 31, 2009 vs. Carolina.

The Flyers had three 23-year-olds (Couturier, Cousins, Gostisbehere) and two 19-year-olds (Konecny, Provorov) combine for a total of eight points in the game (s/t Ryan Bright).

Provorov played 20:18 in his debut and recorded four hits and two blocked shots in addition to his assist.

Yumboats.
