I’ve got this idea for the celebration, which starts at 11 a.m. on Thursday.

I would love to see the Eagles milk the hell out of this thing. Make it as long as possible. Whatever with the temperature; it’s a Super Bowl parade. We’ve never done one of these before. If people can’t stand outside in the cold for the Birds, then get ’em out of here!

They should announce every single player individually. Give each guy their moment in the spotlight. Why not? This was one of the most incredible collective team performances I’ve ever seen.

Here’s how it works.

You do the parade, okay? South Broad to the Art Museum. Lurie speaks. Howie speaks. Doug speaks. He shouts out all of the coaches, who do a short recap and say something to the crowd.

Then you go down the ENTIRE roster and give props to every single guy on the team with a brief blurb about what they did this season. It’s sort of like college graduation; you walk up the steps and get your diploma, but instead of just shooing you off the stage they actually say something nice about you.

They should have Merrill do it. Something like this:

Merrill Reese: “This next player was a rookie from West Virginia University, a corner back who picked off Eli Manning in week three… everybody make some noise for RASUL DOUGLAS!”

Crowd: “yea! awesome man! Rasuuuuuuul!”

Merrill Reese: “Next up is a guy who was a beast against the Chargers, with two tackles for loss and a big sack when the Birds needed one. He also has great hair! It’s BEAU ALLEN!”

Crowd: “Oh yea! Beau Allen baby, what a guy!”

Merrill Reese: “And this guy is a mean motherfucker! He blocked a punt in the playoffs and urged his teammates to rip the intestines out of the Patriots and keep them as trophies! It’s BRYAN BRAMAN!”

Crowd: “Yeeaaaaaaaaaa!”

Do that for everybody. Find something nice to say. I don’t care if it’s Shelton Gibson or Nate Gerry or whatever, everybody contributed in some way, shape, or form.

I sort of broke up the Birds into different tiers to set a loose order of how I’d do it. I’m sure I forgot a few players, but I’d start with the practice squad guys and go all the way up to the quarterbacks. Let the crowd work itself into a frenzy with a slow build up, giving credit where it’s due, which is everywhere.

Tier 1 – the practice squad

Josh Andrews, De’Vante Bausby, Billy Brown, Rashard Davis, Darrell Green, Harold Jones-Quartey, D.J. Killings, Tre Sullivan, Bryce Treggs, Greg Ward

They’re part of this, are they not? These guys put in the work the franchise asked them to do, so why not a shout at the parade?

Give ’em a ring too, which I think is usually the procedure. The NFL pays for 150 of ’em, which is more than enough, and you can always order more, too. Jon Dorenbos, for example, is getting a ring, which I think is cool.

Tier 2 – fringe contributors/some injuries

Shelton Gibson, Will Beatty, Najee Goode, Dannell Ellerbe, Nate Gerry, Marcus Johnson, Sidney Jones, Nate Sudfeld, Steven Means, Elijah Qualls, Jaylen Watkins, Donnel Pumphrey

This tier might be a little tough because these were mostly peripheral guys who weren’t called on a ton. Still, I’m sure you could find a decent play for each one, or just shout them out as a group that pushed the starters in practice or contributed depth to the team.

I dunno, I’m sure we can come up with something positive to say here.

Tier 3 – guys who did more than tier 2

Kenjon Barner, Bryan Braman, Rasul Douglas, Kamu Grugier-Hill, Mack Hollins, Wendell Smallwood, Isaac Seumalo, Chance Warmack, Destiny Vaeao, Chris Maragos

A group of guys who came in on spot duty, covered for injuries, or contributed on special teams. Maragos I’d throw in here, too, despite the injury.

Otherwise, I don’t know what I’d do with the likes of him and Jason Peters and Darren Sproles. I think it’s kind of corny to separate all of the injured guys. Why not just throw them in like any other guy? They all made contributions at various levels before going down hurt anyway. We shouldn’t just define them as guys who were lost for the year.

Tier 4 – specialists

I’d give them their own segment in the ceremony.

Jake Elliott, Donnie Jones, and long snapper Rick Lovato. Let’s give ’em their props. And Caleb Sturgis can go out there, too, I guess, right? I dunno.

I think it would be cool to separate the specialists and give them some spotlight.

Tier 5 – rotational guys and consistent contributors

Trey Burton, Corey Graham, Big V, Beau Allen, Derek Barnett, Brent Celek, Vinny Curry, Tim Jernigan, Ronald Darby, Chris Long, Torrey Smith, Darren Sproles

Guys who made plays this year, just not at the level of the core contributors. Tim Jernigan had a really nice season, but he wasn’t Fletcher Cox or Brandon Graham, was he?

And I think you shout out Darren Sproles and Brent Celek here; give them the veteran benefit of the doubt even though they really didn’t log a ton of minutes.

Tier 6 – key players

Nelson Agholor, Jay Ajayi, Corey Clement, LeGarrette Blount, Nigel Bradham, Brandon Brooks, Fletcher Cox, Zach Ertz, Brandon Graham, Alshon Jeffery, Malcolm Jenkins, Lane Johnson, Jason Kelce, Mychal Kendricks, Rodney McLeod, Jalen Mills, Stefen Wisniewski, Patrick Robinson, Jason Peters, Jordan Hicks

The cream of the crop, dudes who got the Birds over the hump. Yes, I’m putting the third down running back in here. Yes, I’m putting the injured left tackle and middle linebacker in here.

I found 20 guys for this tier. That’s almost an entire offense and defense right there.

The lines were excellent, the receivers made some huge plays, and the stable of running backs all contributed in their own way.

Tier 7 – the quarterbacks

Carson Wentz and Nick Foles, bring ’em out together to end the ceremony.

Crowd goes crazy, Philadelphia implodes.

Let’s organize this and let’s get it done. Spread the word.
