The future is now.

Carter Hart made his long-awaited NHL debut, even if it was a year earlier than expected, and he looked pretty good.

He wasn’t tested that much against a bad Detroit team, stopping 20 of 22 shots in a 3-2 win over the Red Wings. It was also a worthwhile night for Hart’s parents and billet. Many people saw his mom Shauna’s emotions throughout the night.

As for the game itself, James van Riemsdyk, Radko Gudas (!), and Shayne Gostisbehere scored for the Flyers in Scott Gordon’s debut as interim head coach. People forget it was his first game behind the bench as well.

Up next is Nashville at home on Thursday. Meanwhile, forward Jori Lehtera will be prosecuted in a drug ring investigation in Finland. His court date will be sometime in January, while the case will start on New Year’s Eve.
