Last month, Danny Green said on his podcast that he’d be “highly surprised” if Ben Simmons played on March 10th in Philadelphia. His hunch was right, because “Simmo the Savage” will not grace us with his on-floor presence Thursday. Instead, he’s expected to sit on the bench. Maybe he’ll log on for a Call of Duty session later in the evening.

In that same podcast, Green said the relationship between Simmons and Seth Curry + Andre Drummond was not cordial, which Curry pushed back on a few days later, saying this:

“The relationship was fine. He wasn’t around. So I don’t know what [Green] meant by that. ‘Wasn’t cordial,’ I don’t know what that means, but the relationship was fine. He just wasn’t around so we didn’t see him a lot or we didn’t talk a lot. But as far as now, he’s on my [team]. I went to battle with him last year, we did a lot of good stuff and I’m going to go to war with who I’m going to go to war with and who’s on my team, so I’m looking forward to getting back out there with him and doing good stuff.”

So on his most recent episode, Green had Drummond on as a guest, and there was clarification on this topic (audio courtesy of Inside the Green Room) –

Green:

“I didn’t say there was drama or beef. People took it as I thought there was beef between him and Seth. I did not say that. I just said there wasn’t as much of a cordialness because he wasn’t around and we didn’t speak to him as much.”

Alright. What we’ve learned from this exercise is that “cordial” was never the right word to begin with. Maybe Green should have used “nonexistent” or something like that. The relationship was “nonexistent” or placed in abeyance (suspension) because Ben was holding out and didn’t play any games. But Curry and Simmons didn’t dislike each other, as Curry and now Green are explaining. I also appreciate Drummond saying he doesn’t give a “fuck less” what happened in Philly.

Now that this has been addressed, we can focus on what really matters, which is booing the ever-living shit out of Simmons on Thursday night.
