The Brandon Marsh Revenge Series begins Monday night in Anaheim! So does the over-obsessive fawning over if Mike Trout will be a Phillies player and how awesome he’d look in red pinstripes.

The Phillies are only a -142 favorite on the money line at most New Jersey sportsbook apps and Pennsylvania sports betting apps to start the second leg of their west coast swing against the Anaheim Angels, and honestly, it’s a disrespectful line given the pitching matchup. Cristopher Sanchez and Griffin Canning each hold 1-3 records, but Sanchez’s ERA is almost five points lower than Canning, who excuse my shitty dad joke, has been getting canned by opposing hitters. The Angels right-hander allowed 30 hits and 20 earned runs in 24 innings this season. He allowed at least five hits in four of his five appearances and only has one game with more than four strikeouts.

Translation: the Phillies should chase this scrub by the fourth inning.

I would recommend the under props on Canning’s out at 16.5 and strikeouts at 5.5. I already touched on the strikeout situation and he hasn’t made it to the sixth inning in four of five starts. Left-handed hitters have a .333 batting average against Canning this season, so HELLO BIG GAME BRANDON MARSH. Not only do we have the beautiful narrative of the return to Anaheim in front of us, but we have an ideal matchup against an average-at-best right-handed starter.

Marsh leads the Phillies in home runs against righties. He is one of three players to have over 20 hits against right-handed pitchers. Alec Bohm and Trea Turner are the others. Bohm is in must-bet territory with his total bases prop at the moment. He has two or more total bases in each of the LAST EIGHT GAMES!! Turner carries a five-game hitting streak into Anaheim, so if you’re into Same Game Parlays, you can get Turner/Bohm/Marsh to record a hit at +140 and the trio to record two total bases at +688.

If the Phillies get the good Sanchez from his first four starts, they should be in terrific shape to cover the run line for the fifth straight win. In fact, the Phils covered the run line in nine of their last 11 wins. The Angels just gave up 27 runs to the Minnesota Twins in the last two games and lost nine of their last 10 games. They lost by multiple runs on seven occasions during that run.

There’s not much to brag about in that lineup, outside of Trout, since Anthony Rendon already started his yearly extended stint on the injured list and the mix of veterans and potential young stars have not clicked. They rank in the bottom 10 in most offensive categories and it would be much worse if Trout wasn’t on their roster.
