Maybe, just maybe, a change of scenery and a getaway far, far away from Philadelphia will help the Phillies get back on track.

The Phils are 3-9 since the All-Star break and have not won a series in that span. In fact, only the Chicago White Sox have a worse record in all of Major League Baseball in the same time frame.

That’s why the Phillies are +100 on the series line for the weekend jaunt to the pacific northwest to take on the Seattle Mariners.

The pitching matchup certainly is not in the Phillies’ favor across three games. Tyler Phillips opposes Bryan Woo on Friday, Kolby Allard gets another start versus Bryce Miller on Saturday, and Zack Wheeler goes up against Logan Gilbert in a Sunday battle of aces.

Seattle needs a series win as bad as the Phillies since they enter the weekend tied with the Houston Astros atop the American League West. The Mariners are coming off a 4-2 road trip in which they received a massive boost in the form of Randy Arozarena and Justin Turner.

The scouting report on Seattle’s offense prior to those deals was it was easily susceptible to strikeouts. That doesn’t completely change because Arozarena is a free swinger, but Turner at least brings some more plate discipline to the lineup.

The Mariners still lead the majors in strikeouts with 1,121. Colorado, Oakland, and Boston are the only other teams with more than 1,000 strikeouts this season. That’s 201 more Ks than the Phillies.

Seattle also ranks dead last in the majors with a .204 home batting average. Unsurprisingly, they have the most strikeouts at home.

T-Mobile Park isn’t exactly a hitters’ paradise and that could help Phillips in Friday’s matchup. He has more strikeout power than Woo, who is purely a pitch-to-contact guy. The Seattle matchup also suits Wheeler, who will probably go at least six innings and punch out around six or seven batters on Sunday. The problem for Sunday is that Gilbert is capable of the same exact line. So playing the series finale under might be the way to go, using any available PA sportsbook promos or NJ sportsbook promos, depending on what apps you like to use.

Phillips, who has 19 strikeouts in 25 innings, is worth a look for his strikeout prop over 4.5 and a strikeout ladder, which goes as high as seven at most books.

The exact opposite can be said about Woo and his strikeout prop of 4.5. He has 37 punchouts in 53.2 innings this season. He’s had five or more strikeouts four times in 11 starts. Translation: hit the under.

Pitching props may be the best way to target the series given how much Seattle strikes out and how little faith everyone has in the Phillies lineup.

Of course, there’s always a chance the Phils break out of their slump in Seattle, but the more likely result is a bunch of 3-2, 2-1-type games.
