Uh oh! If you’re the Eagles, you’ve got to be concerned with a running back stable of Zeke Elliott, Rico Dowdle, and Dalvin Cook.
Let’s take a look at what each guy did last year:
- Dowdle: 89 carries for 361 yards and two touchdowns, 4.1 yards per carry, 17 receptions for 144 yards and two touchdowns
- Zeke: 182 carries for 642 yards and three touchdowns, 3.5 yards per carry, 51 receptions for 313 yards and two touchdowns
- Cook: 67 carries for 214 yards and no scores, 15 receptions for 78 yards and 0 scores
Cook fell behind Breece Hall last year and was ultimately waived and unclaimed. He signed with the Ravens’ practice squad and ran the ball eight times in the divisional round win over the Texans. He just turned 29 and carried the ball a bazillion times for the Vikings, so who knows what the guy has left in the tank. Zeke had a whatever season with a whatever Patriots team and Dowdle is just a guy. Obviously Dak is gonna be chucking the ball a ton, and that’s the strength of their offense. But unless Zeke Elliott and Dalvin Cook magically reprise their seasonal performances of yesteryear, there’s nothing on paper to suggest this running back group is going to be a threat. Is Deuce Vaughn their best option down there in the BIG D? Get Jerry on the phone and ask him what he thinks. He’s the greatest GM of all time, according to himself.
