Matvei Michkov, Flyers Listed at -125 at Home Against Red Wings
The Philadelphia Flyers are about to get very familiar with the Detroit Red Wings, and quite frankly, that’s a terrific thing.
The Flyers are a -125 favorite on the money line for Thursday’s home meeting, the first of two games in the span of a week between these teams.
Detroit lost five of its last six and the only win in that stretch came against Buffalo, who is also at the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings.
To put things in a wider perspective, the Flyers play three of their next five against Detroit and Columbus before they embark on the Disney on Ice holiday road trip.
Simply put, you wanna be a playoff team, you win the games against lesser opposition.
The Flyers already did that with their five-goal outing in Columbus on Tuesday night, and to be honest, that game shouldn’t have even been that close since they were up 5-1 in the third period.
A similar-type of showing should be expected from the Flyers against the Red Wings.
Detroit has only won consecutive games three times this season, they own a -15 goal differential, and captain Dylan Larkin has reportedly requested a trade.
The Red Wings give up 3.14 goals and 30.9 shots per game.
That’s an ideal matchup for wagering on points and shots on goal props for Flyers players.
Detroit gives up the third-most shots on goal per game to both centers and defensemen.
I would look at Travis Sanheim and Morgan Frost as the best straight positional fits for those trends, but most of the Flyers’ top shot rippers play on the wings.
Matvei Michkov is the obvious choice for all props at the moment, whether it’s New Jersey sports betting apps or Pennsylvania sports betting apps. Michkov has eight points in four games in December. He had eight SOGs in the last three games as well. Prior to this hot run, Michkov was collecting points but not consistently shooting the puck.
Michkov is listed around -150 across various sportsbooks to record a point and he’s at plus-money to go over 2.5 shots on goal.
Sanheim’s shots on goal prop sits at over/under 1.5, and while he’s been shooting less of late, the matchup sets up for him to get more pucks on net.
Travis Konecny and Owen Tippett are obviously candidates for points and SOG props as well because they are first and second in SOGs and first and fourth in points.
If anything, I’d ride Michkov in any capacity because he’s not just the hot hand on the Flyers, but one of the hottest players in the NHL right now.
