Your Monday Morning Roundup
By Kyle Scott
Published:
Phillies baseball was fun to watch this weekend– walk-offs galore (going back to last week), an 18-inning stupid fest, and the mostly triumphant return of Roy Halladay and his 87 mph heater.
Also, I’m developing a duel man crush on Cody Asche and Darin Ruf. Asche is spectacularly fun to watch in the field [watch] and all Ruf has done at the Major League level is rake– in 184 career at-bats, he has 14 HR, 29 RBIs and a .935 OPS. To put that number in perspective, Ryan Howard hasn’t had a single season with an OPS over .935 since 2007. Ruf’s .904 OPS this season would put him just outside the top 10 in baseball. And yes, I know it’s a super small sample size from little more than a month of play… but he’s been really good.
Let’s hit it!

This pic is going around Twitter this morning:
Jelly ass aside, I really like We Can’t Stop.
Justin Timberlake and ‘NSYNC (I think we’re at a point where it’s required that we distinguish those things) also performed at the VMAs and Xfinity Live! tweeted (and later deleted) the following:

Please… like there were three Asians at Xfinity Live! at the same time.
They followed up with the reckless – yet ballsy – our account was hacked excuse:
Right.
Chris Christie has an amazing FUPA:

This concussion may end Kevin Kolb’s career.
John Kruk was taken from the Sunday Night Baseball booth in a stretcher.
The best longread of the week may be this New York Times piece on how ESPN basically owns college football. It’s extraordinarily in-depth and well-reported, but, at best, it glosses over the journalistic issue that ESPN’s coverage of the sport amounts to an informercial for partner schools and conferences.
Hey here’s a surprise: the Kardashian-Odom union didn’t work out.
We’re probably going to bomb Syria this week.
