Thanks to readers for pointing out that these teasers started playing on 94 WIP this week:

Sorry for the shitty edit at the end there, but anyway, we will have to “effort” more information on this and try to find out who the replacement is. The fact that they’re teasing it now suggests to me that they finally got this thing to the finish line.

WIP was supposed to announce this news back in July, and I honestly have no clue what happened there. The Mike Golic rumor picked up a lot of steam, so we asked both Golics if they were going to WIP, they said no, and a high-ranking Audacy employee then immediately blocked me on Twitter. Not sure what that means. Maybe there were talks there at one point, as Golic Sr’s wife alluded to. It’s suspect!

I don’t have any concrete information and nobody at WIP seems to know either. They’ve kept this thing under wraps and/or did not even have a replacement picked out. I keep hearing Joe DeCamara’s name, however, and he was an early frontrunner for the gig, so we’ll see if “The Hammer” does indeed get it. If I was a betting man, I believe he remains the favorite, but I’m not sure I’d put too much money on it. Maybe sprinkle a fiver.

We’ll make some phone calls today, do some journalism maybe.
