Ben Simmons recorded his second triple-double in three games and fourth on the season while Jimmy Butler scored 20 points as the Sixers crushed the Knicks 131-109. It’s good that the Sixers can beat bad teams handily, but they need to prove to the NBA they can contend for an Eastern Conference title.
Joel Embiid had yet another double-double with 24 points and 10 rebounds. His 28 double-doubles are a league-high. JJ Redick had 14 points and also recorded his 10,000th point.

It was also nice to see Landry Shamet record a career-high 17 points as the team’s third-highest scorer. He went 4-7 from 3.
Next up are some big tests. Home against Toronto on Saturday, Christmas Day in Boston, then their western road-trip against Utah, Portland, and the Clippers. Let’s hope the anthem singers don’t screw up during that stretch as well.
