Zach Eflin tied a career-high with nine strikeouts. He was good.

The Phillies offense only mustered three hits. They were not good. And they lost 2-0 in the process.

Eflin gave up both runs in the fifth on a Christian Walker single and a Nick Ahmed sac fly. Two of the three hits for the Phillies came from Nick Williams, who had a double in the third and a single in the fifth. J.T. Realmuto got the third hit via a single in the seventh.

Not a ton to discuss besides the bats wasted a fantastic outing from Eflin. The game did go by fast, 2 hours and 16 minutes to be exact. The perfect speed for a baseball game if you ask me.

The team is off today as they head to Atlanta to take on the Braves in a huge weekend series featuring the two best teams in the division. This should be a good time to see where the team stands in the season.

Meanwhile, manager Gabe Kapler discussed the latest Phils happenings, including a couple of his starting pitchers, in his weekly appearance on WIP. And the Lehigh Valley IronPigs will play as the “Jawn” for a game later in the year.

  1. One time this kid at school asked for my lunch money and if I didn’t give it up, he gave me a wedgie and put me down the toilet and put my face in the toilet if I didn’t give him the money. It inspired me to get big and defend myself and get some muscle on me and some beef to defend myself! It got me muscular. I confronted him and said I’m not giving up the lunch money. He put my head down the toilet again.

  2. You didn’t answer my question about why there is no Wings coverage, but at least you got “jawn” off the top of the page.
