Your Thursday Morning Roundup
Zach Eflin tied a career-high with nine strikeouts. He was good.
The Phillies offense only mustered three hits. They were not good. And they lost 2-0 in the process.
Eflin gave up both runs in the fifth on a Christian Walker single and a Nick Ahmed sac fly. Two of the three hits for the Phillies came from Nick Williams, who had a double in the third and a single in the fifth. J.T. Realmuto got the third hit via a single in the seventh.
Not a ton to discuss besides the bats wasted a fantastic outing from Eflin. The game did go by fast, 2 hours and 16 minutes to be exact. The perfect speed for a baseball game if you ask me.
The team is off today as they head to Atlanta to take on the Braves in a huge weekend series featuring the two best teams in the division. This should be a good time to see where the team stands in the season.
Meanwhile, manager Gabe Kapler discussed the latest Phils happenings, including a couple of his starting pitchers, in his weekly appearance on WIP. And the Lehigh Valley IronPigs will play as the “Jawn” for a game later in the year.
