The Eagles and FOX Bet just announced a comprehensive on-premises partnership.

FOX Bet, one of our top rated PA sports betting apps, is obviously the online sportsbook powered by FOX Sports. Owned by The Stars Group and previously called “BetStars”, FOX Bet caters to more casual bettors with lower stakes odds boosts and a more fun, interactive experience backed by familiar sports personalities.

Here’s how the Eagles will work the brand in and around Lincoln Financial Field, according the Sports Business Journal:

The Eagles and Fox Bet have agreed to a multiyear sponsorship deal that features a new branded interactive studio and premium lounge at Lincoln Financial Field. The 4,000-square-foot lounge and production studio will be able to host 380 fans with access to the club space two-and-a-half hours prior to kickoff and for an hour following games. Fans will be able to see players arrive, watch postgame press conferences and shows produced in the studio from the lounge. The deal includes broadcast, digital and social media advertising on the Eagles’ team channels, custom promotions, a branding presence on game days, prominent messaging on the stadium’s LED boards and end zone boards and signage on concourse levels. Fox Bet will also be the presenting sponsor of “Eagles Edge,” a new program airing on the team’s digital channels following all games.

So, it’s a branding play… with a physical space– odd timing considering the fact that there will likely be no fans whatsoever at Lincoln Financial Field this year.

Me thinks it’s no coincidence this news dropped on the same day Barstool Sportsbook is schedule to launch in PA.

It’s unclear how this impacts the Eagles’ current partnership with Unibet PA. But it appears as if they are double dipping in gambling sponsorships, much the way the Sixers are with Parx.

Indeed, the announcement appears right next to a Unibet ad on the Eagles’ website:

If you’ll notice, the Eagles’ previous partnership announcement with Unibet was branded as the “online gambling” partnership (indeed, Unibet is the best online casino in PA). Both the NFL and NBA initially steered away from its clubs promoting sportsbooks directly, so the workaround was to partner with online casino brands… that just happened to also offer a sportsbook.

The difference is subtle, but it allows teams to form quasi-exclusive partnerships with both sports betting and casino brands, even though the implicit promotion of both has more to do with sports betting than online slots.

Anyway, expect to see a lot more FOX Bet in and around Lincoln Financial Field… whenever humans are allowed back in, that is.
