Sixers a 9.5-Point Underdog for Clash with Nikola Jokic and Nuggets
The Sixers’ four-game winning streak is in grave danger of ending on Friday night. They’re once again without Joel Embiid and Paul George and now a 9.5-point underdog against Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets.
That’s not a great sign for the Sixers’ prospects of winning, and it’s not a great look for them to cover as well. The Sixers are 2-4 against the spread when the spread closed at 10 or more. It could hit the double-digit mark by tipoff.
Regardless of Friday’s numbers, the Sixers are one of the worst teams in the NBA against the spread. Only the Washington Wizards and Phoenix Suns have worse ATS marks.
The Sixers certainly didn’t cover in their first meeting with the Nuggets in Denver a few weeks ago. In fact, they got run off the floor and conceded 144 points with George on the floor next to Tyrese Maxey.
Jokic had 27 points, 13 rebounds, and 10 assists in that game, and not only does the matchup suit him, he’s coming off one of the worst games of his professional career on Wednesday.
The Denver big man picked up two super-early fouls against the Knicks and only finished with 12 combined rebounds and assists.
One bad night won’t affect Jokic’s overall odds. Hell, he’s -115 to record a triple double and his over/under for rebounds is set at 13.5.
The other aspect of Denver’s game that could kill the Sixers is Russell Westbrook’s role in the starting lineup. Westbrook had nine assists and seven rebounds two weeks ago versus the Sixers and is averaging over six rebounds and assists per game in January.
The Sixers need an incredible performance out of Maxey, whose point prop is set at 31.5, and a solid night from the rest of the supporting cast.
Kelly Oubre (17.5), Guershon Yabusele (12.5), and Eric Gordon (11.5) all probably have to hit the over on their respective point props, or come close to it, in order for the Sixers to compete with Denver from all angles.
What this matchup will definitely bless us with is a chance to make money off some Same Game Parlays because we know how consistent a lot of players on both rosters have been in their roles. That’s probably the way to go with PA sports betting for this one.
DraftKings is offering Same Game Parlay profit boosts for Friday’s NBA slate, FanDuel has a 30 percent profit boost for NBA games, as well as a 30 percent profit boost on 30-point scorers for Friday’s games.
You can boost Maxey and Jokic to each have 30+ points to +325 with the one FD boost.
Maxey and Jokic points should be the foundation of any SGP for Nuggets/Sixers. One fun way to spend some pizza money on Friday night, besides PA online casinos or an NJ casino app, is to use Maxey and Jokic 25+ points, Jokic 10+ rebounds, Jokic 10+ assists, Westbrook 6+ rebounds and assists and Gordon 2+ threes, all of which hit in the first meeting, in a SGP that gets you to around +1400.
