Indiana Online Sports Betting Launches With Two Sportsbooks Now Live
By Kyle Scott
Published:

Indiana online sports betting is now live and legal. DraftKings and BetRivers have launch their online sportsbooks in the Hoosier state today, making Indiana the fourth major state to legalize online betting.
The announcement regarding DraftKings Sportsbook officially came down from Indiana Gaming Commission Director Sarah Tait in a signed letter late yesterday.
Launch news came quickly and somewhat unexpectedly, unlike most sports betting related news in Pennsylvania, where delays seem to be the norm.
Last week it had been reported that BetRivers would go live on October 3, with parent company Rush Street Interactive announcing their plans.
FanDuel Sportsbook is expected to launch their sports betting app in Indiana sometime next week.
Others, such as PointsBet, William Hill, and FOX Bet also have plans to launch their popular sports betting offerings in Indiana, but timelines for those launches are unclear. William Hill may not be available in the state until March, per sources.
Here is a quick primer on online sports betting in Indiana.
Best Indiana Sports Betting Apps
Here’s our ranking of the best betting apps in Indiana:
- DraftKings Sportsbook
- BetRivers
- FanDuel Sportsbook (launching early October)
- William Hill (launching in March, 2020)
- FOX Bet (coming soon)
- PointsBet (coming soon)
DraftKings Sportsbook
[INSERT_ELEMENTOR id=”86260″]Launch date: October 3, 2019
Availability: iOS, Android, desktop
As was the case in New Jersey, DraftKings became the first online sports betting app to launch in the state on October 3, 2019. In partnership with AmeriStar Casino, the DraftKings Sportsbook app will be available to players located in the state of Indiana.
Why is DraftKings the best sports betting app in Indiana?
DraftKings offers the most action of any online sportsbook, unique ways to play – like pools and betting on daily fantasy stats – and a user interface that is approachable for new players but deep enough for pros.
BetRivers
Launch date: October 3, 2019
Availability: iOS (mobile web), Android, desktop
Rush Street Interactive, the parent company of BetRivers, has been quick to market in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, launching their PlaySugarHouse and BetRivers brands early on in both of those states.
It will be no different in Indiana, where they join DraftKings as the first online sportsbook out of the gate.
The major differentiating factor for French Lick vs. the competition is the fact that they do not offer an iOS app at launch and rather only allow betting through the mobile web on iPhones and iPads thanks to a workaround first introduce in Pennsylvania. They’re interface isn’t as good as DraftKings’ either.
FanDuel Sportsbook
[INSERT_ELEMENTOR id=”84059″]Launch date: mid-October
Availability: iOS, Android, desktop
FanDuel Sportsbook is the overall leader in online betting in the US due to their strong marketing efforts and clean interface. FanDuel doesn’t offer quite as much action as DraftKings, but their live betting experience is very good and makes them one of the best betting options.
FOX Bet
Launch date: TBD
Availability: iOS, Android, web
FOX Bet has partnerships in place but no timetable as been set for launch for Indiana online sports betting.
PointsBet
Launch date: TBD
Availability: iOS, Android, web
PointsBet, thanks to their partnership with Penn National Gaming, has a partner in Indiana, but no timetable has been set for their launch.
William Hill
Launch date: March, 2020
Availability: iOS, Android, web
William Hill has plans to enter the market, but likely not until 2020.

Live Betting NCAA Limit
Live Betting may not be very popular in Indiana. Indiana put a restriction on live betting during NCAA games saying college prop bets are not allowed. The only bets allowed in an NCAA game will be at the natural stoppage of play(i.e. the end of a quarter, half, etc). FanDuel and DraftKings have said upwards of 50 percent of their betting comes from in-game bets.
