Rhys Hoskins, Nick Williams, JP Crawford, and Jorge Alfaro all started last night’s game against the Mets. Oh, and the Phillies crushed New York’s other team 9-1 behind a six-run fourth inning.

Crawford got his first Major League hit and kudos to that, but pitcher Ben Lively stole the show. He gave up one run on four hits in seven innings of work, but his offense was the big storyline from this game. He hit a two-run homer in the fourth and added on two more RBIs in the win:

He’s the first Phillies pitcher since Cliff Lee in 2013 to have four RBIs in a game, and his eight total RBIs this year are the most since Randy Wolf back in 2004.

Phils-Mets tonight at 7:10. Nick Pivetta (good god) against Matt Harvey on the mound. We might see JP Crawford again as well. Expect him to mainly be at third or second base for the rest of the month.

The roundup:

T-minus four days until the season opener against Washington.

Looks like Ronald Darby has switched his jersey number to 41. Why that number, I have no clue, but he’s wanted to go somewhere in the 20s since he got traded to Philadelphia last month– notably 28, which is worn by Wendell Smallwood. Praying that he’s not the next Byron Maxwell.

Jeff McLane of the Inquirer profiles Carson Wentz and the changes to his mechanics from his rookie year:

Wentz said during an interview just before the final preseason game that he hadn’t compared film of himself late last year and this year for visual proof. But Reich and quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo said that the second-year quarterback’s more efficient movements within the pocket have stood out on playbacks.

“Without a doubt, you can see what he’s been working on,” Reich said. “It was always there. He was always doing the right things. It’s just getting to do them at a higher percentage and more consistent.”

Meanwhile, the Eagles are 19th in NFL.com’s first Power Rankings of the season.

Michael Lombardi doesn’t like Doug Pederson, for some reason.

Carson Wentz’s typical day is a long one, and much different than most of ours.

Brandon Graham has become a tank in the Eagles’ weight room.

Donnel Pumphrey is still a work in progress, and that’s totally fine.

The Flyers released their broadcast schedule, and if you can imagine, all their games are on an NBC-owned station.

Training camp is coming soon.

Your super important EuroBasket 2017 updates:

I’m not sure how Furkan got an assist taken away from him in a span of a quarter.

Ezekiel Elliott’s six-game suspension is upheld, but he’ll play this Sunday against the Giants. And maybe even longer:

Last week, the NFL Players Association filed a petition with the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas last week seeking to void the suspension. It also filed a temporary restraining order motion against Henderson’s appeal decision. U.S. District Court Judge Amos Mazzant III will determine if the suspension can be postponed while he reviews the petition. Mazzant III will make a ruling by 5 p.m. CT Friday.

If Mazzant III does not grant the NFLPA’s TRO request, Elliott’s suspension would begin Week 2 against the Denver Broncos.

I feel bad for the one kid with his arms crossed who knows this protest is dumb:

A Massachusetts sports team cheats again! This time, it’s the Red Sox, who used Apple Watches to steal signs against the Yankees and other teams.

The Big East is releasing their conference schedule next week.

Jay Cutler and the Dolphins might make their second appearance in Philadelphia in three weeks. Only this time, it might be for a regular season game against Tampa Bay.

This is why:

WFAN’s Craig Carton, one half of the “Boomer & Carton” morning show, was arrested this morning on federal charges of defrauding customers in a fake ticket scam totalling about $2 million.

“At this point in which we are going to cooperate with authorities and we have nothing further to add,” CBS, which owns WFAN, said in a statement to the station.

Houston billionaire Tilman Fertitta has bought the Rockets for $2.2 billion. When Leslie Alexander bought the team in 1993, they were worth $85 million. A good investment.

Mike Leach got weird in his press conference:

Happy 20th birthday to the greatest sports game known to man: NFL Blitz. Plenty of memories with that game.
