Seven out of eight points on a four-game road trip is pretty damn good.

And that’s what the Flyers achieved after defeating the Arizona Coyotes 5-2 last night with their backup and/or third string goalie. I don’t know what to call Cal Pickard, to be quite honest.

Michal Neuvirth went back on IR and Brian Elliott was injured during practice. He’ll be re-evaluated soon with the team coming back to Philly. So the Flyers went with the duo of Pickard and Alex Lyon for the game. Pickard got the start and stopped 34 shots. At least it involved the Coyotes and not some other really good team.

Claude Giroux led the way with two goals and one assist. Shayne Gostisbehere and Sean Couturier also scored, while Oskar Lindblom added an empty netter.

The Flyers have a few days off before they host the Coyotes Thursday night. That might give Elliott some time to heal from his injury, whatever that might be.

The Eagles got another player yesterday. This time it was Tim Jernigan returning to practice. He might not play Sunday against Dallas but it’s a really good sign to see him back.

The Birds also made a couple of roster moves:

Next week’s game against the Saints is getting flexed to 4:25 p.m.

Finally, the Chargers cut kicker Caleb Sturgis. That means no compensatory pick for the Eagles.

After a turnover-filled performance Sunday night against the Nets, the Sixers continue to get ready for Wednesday night’s showdown in Indiana against the Pacers.

But thanks to now-deleted tweets by Drew Hanlen, the news once again surrounds Markelle Fultz and his health. According to PhillyVoice’s Kyle Neubeck, Fultz isn’t dealing with any injuries.

As for the free agent front, looks like the Phillies will be players for both Bryce Harper and Manny Machado. And they might be in on Patrick Corbin as well.
