There was some booing last night. But it came early.

Kurt Suzuki’s two-run home run off Vince Velasquez in the 2nd inning gave Washington a 2-0 lead. Obviously there’d be some boos because of that. But they later became big cheers thanks to some barrels.

Odubel Herrera hit a two-run shot in the bottom of the fourth before Rhys Hoskins hit two solo bombs en route to a 4-3 Phillies win.

Even on a night where Bryce Harper went 0-for-3, there were plenty of other threats in the lineup. It may have gotten even stronger with Scott Kingery taking over second base for a struggling Cesar Hernandez. Kingery went 2-for-4 in his first start of the season.

Velasquez was alright despite the home run he gave up early. He went five innings with four hits and two strikeouts. The bullpen did their job, despite Pat Neshek giving up a late Brian Dozier homer in the ninth.

The two teams play again tonight at 7:05 PM on NBC Sports Philadelphia+ with Aaron Nola facing off against Stephen Strasburg in a good pitching duel.
